The CSA is officially SOLD OUT! thanks guys
Today we officially closed the books on CSA sign ups for our fall - spring shares, which begin shortly, on November 21st. Every year we expand the farm and thusly we expand the CSA, taking on a few more members each time; being cautious about over committing. When Muriel started the farm it was on a 1/3rd acre lot in Little Haiti and it had 20 members. This season, we have about 1.5 acres of our property under cultivation and we are feeding over 70 families and half a dozen restaurants! Not all of our CSA produce comes from our fields, since there are certain items we don't grow; heirloom tomatoes from Teena's Pride, tropical fruit from LNB Groves, multicolored carrots and romanesco from French Farms and organic citrus from groves in Central Florida are all included in the shares and sometimes it can be really difficult to determine just how many members we should have. But, this number feels right... any bigger and we would need more pickup trucks! Or bigger ones! And more market tables and baskets! Or bigger ones!
If you didn't get a chance to sign up don't forget that we will be selling produce every Saturday at the Upper East Side Farmers Market at Legion Park (66th and Biscayne) from 9am till 2pm. We also sell Zak the Baker sourdough bread, preserved farm goodies like saurkraut and kimchi, edible plants and everything else you could need for your home garden (seed packets, organic soil, fertilizers and soil amendments).
