Looking for our next apprentice
The time has come for us to find an apprentice for the upcoming growing season. We are an urban farm so we don't have many acres and resources to offer housing or camping opportunities, but we also don't ask for many hours from our apprentice. We actually only ask for 10 hours of your time every week. Our schedule is a bit flexible, but we're looking for someone who can commit to being at the farm every Thursday and Friday for a few hours. We can offer some growing space for you to cultivate your own personal veggies and herbs, using all of our resources such as fertilizer, seeds, nursery to start seeds, tools and of course all the advice you ever wanted. Think of it as an all-inclusive gardening opportunity. From previous experience we'd start you off with one 50' bed of growing space in one of our fields at the farm, but based on interest and dedication we'd be happy to share more space.
The right person would have to be available on Thursday and Friday mornings from October to May (yeah, that's 8 months!!!). The right person would be interested in growing food on a small scale, organic methods of farming and efficient labor techniques. We're looking for someone who can work with their hands, get dirty and work through rain or shine. We start early on harvest days and we need someone who can be on time regularly so that they can be trained and work independently if needed. If you're interested, please send us an email (mail@littlerivercooperative.com) with your personal info (name, phone number, address, age) and a very brief description (one paragraph) of why you are interested in this position.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
