This variety of passionfruit is super unique and much lower yielding than the more typical and smaller "purple possum" passionfruit but if you have the space in your garden and the inclination to grow it it will be a real treat. The vine is beautiful and unique and has a square stem and large light green ribbed leaves and grows quickly to cover fences and arbors with ease. The flowers are like the traditional passionfruit flowers but 4 times the size! The fruit is eaten more like a melon because it has a thick fleshy interior and a thin but inedible rind. The seeds, which are enclosed in jelly sacks, are also edible and are the most flavorful part of the fruit. For more fruit consider hand pollinating your flowers in the morning when they are freshly opened.
