This relatively rare & hard to find tropical fruit tree is cousins to the extremely common and very popular "surinam cherry" that is so often used as a hedge plant here in South Florida. The more delicious and larger fruited Star Cherry likes similar growing conditions and also grows into a shrub that is easily pruned to your desired shape and size. The fruit of this tree is juicy like a starfruit and the flavor is said to be like an apricot. These stout little shrubs are already flowering at just about a year old and they are everbearing so they will continue to produce small amounts of fruit as they mature.
