This is a classic yellow zucchini like the ones you get at the store, but don't forget... everything you grow yourself tastes better than store bought! Zucchini can be tricky to grow in Miami but they're so satisfying when you do get them to thrive. Male flowers, which are the first ones to appear on the plant, are edible and the fruit is edible at any size including itty bitty with the flower still attached. Yellow summer squash have a nutty taste thats more pronounced when eaten from the garden.
Thrifty tip: If you're looking to fill lots of space at a school garden or somewhere else with a tight budget squash & bean seeds go a long way! The plants are large, quick growing and produce impressive fruit and they're easy to grow direct from seed (no need to transplant just stick the seed in the garden, water and watch it grow) so this one packet will plant more than 30 square feet of garden if you want it to.
