Alcohol, Water & Honey: a tropical herbalism course with Evelyn Block of Seed & Bone. Saturday January 18th
This product is currently sold out.
This January we are happy to be hosting two inspiring medicinal plant workshops with our long time farm friend and herbalist Evelyn Block, Ethno Agronomist at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and creator of apothecary project Seed & Bone, based in Detroit Michigan.
This workshop will take place Saturday January 18th from 4-6pm in our exhibition garden at our urban farm & plant nursery, which is planted with an array of culinary herbs & medicinal plants for us to draw from. We will be harvesting fresh ingredients from the garden and drawing from our stores of farm grown dried ingredients to be creating and sharing three specific herb infused products.
Evelyn will walk us through the process of making a tincture, a tea, and an infused honey (thus the title alcohol, water and honey!) with a group of specific herbs which will be learning all about beforehand. An educational walk through the exhibition garden will result in a bounty of those herbs which you harvested yourself, which we will then use as a group to make one of each of the items we learned about. Leave the workshop with a 8oz tincture, a satchel of dried tea blend grown by us, and an 4oz jar of local honey you infused with herbs.
This workshop will focus on only a handful herbs so that the group can learn as much as possible about them and how to use them responsibly in your every day life. Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Passionfruit leaf, Clitoria, Turmeric & Calendula will be the plant focus of this workshop. The herbs chosen all grow in the tropics and can be grown at home.
