This season we are running a bit of a tomato experiment by offering a selection of dwarf plants recently bred as part of the “Dwarf Tomato project”, the first open sourced tomato breeding project composed of all volunteer, amateur & hobby gardeners led by breeders Craig LeHoullier & Patrina Nuske-Small. All of these unique dwarf varieties vary in height but get no taller than 5 feet, which means they are much easier to manage in small spaces & containers and they are significantly easier to trellis. These plants may look strange to you but its because they are all “potato leaf” aka rugose foliage types, so their leaves are darker colored and more textured, with a distinct shape too. is offering seeds of these new varieties and we couldn’t help but get just a few to try in our trial garden and share with you so you can try them too. If you do choose one of these cool new tomato types consider it a bit of a trial yourself and make sure to take notes & photos, and it would be awesome if you shared your results with us at the end of the season.

Blazing Beauty was the first orange tomato variety to be bred by the project. Vigorous producer of 3-8 ounce medium size fruit with a deep orange color both inside and out. Delicious flavor with plenty of sweetness and a pleasurable acidic bite.
