While we couldn’t find much information online about this heirloom variety from TomatoFest what information we did find made us want to try this new variety out in South Florida. To quote the one liner on the website: “Delicious heirloom plant producing 4 ounce round saladette tomatoes. Perfect for growing in hot, tropical climates”.
That line about hot tropical climates is pretty much all we need to hear in order to give a tomato variety a try.... you see, while we all know that tomatoes love the sun, you may not realize that they need to be very dry and prefer a mediterranean climate to one like ours, with lots of humidity and moisture. Thats why many of the Italian Classics or the big European beefsteaks don’t do well here. So, if you’re looking for a solid red slicer like a Tropic, Anahu or Homestead 24, add this guy to your shopping list.
