Spinach should only be planted in the very depths of our “winter” because it’s a cold hardy crop that hates the heat. We don't offer spinach as a plant because we don't really want to encourage beginners to try and grow it, but we offer seeds because if you do want to try we think you should go for it. We've been experimenting with spinach plantings during December & January for years and we definitely get food from the plant, so its doable, but because it hates the heat so very much we think theres other greens that are much more worth the hassle, like tat soi, which is almost indistinguishable from spinach when cooked, or chaya, which is a tropical tree spinach variety. If you do give this spinach a try, you can direct sow seeds into your garden from December - February and harvest mature leaves "cut and come again" style.
