High-yielding plants produce 15-20 gram orange fruits with dark indigo-colored shoulders. Very sweet flavor with a surprising, tart kick of acidity. Compact indeterminate plant requires minimal pruning and yields well, even in unfavorable conditions. We love planting one of these along with a sungold, a red cherry and a black cherry in a garden so the owner can have a nice colorful mixed assortment of fruit from their yard. Harvest when background color fills in uniformly orange and fruits begin to soften. Indigo color is derived from anthocyanin, a known antioxidant. Indigo Kumquats are such good and reliable producers that farmer Chris at French Farms grows them for the market.
