While South Florida home gardeners can grow true celery here it can take a long time and the texture is never right. Stringy, firm, and hollow hot weather celery isn’t much to write home about. So we have switched to growing cutting celery for getting the celery flavor out of the home garden. Use the leaves and stems for flavoring soups and other dishes like you would celery or its close relative parsley. Celery and cutting celery both need lots of water so make sure their soil has plenty of organic matter to retain moisture. Partial shade is ok.

This is a stunning bright pink celery from China. An easy-to-grow variety to complete the nutritional rainbow! Pink celery is popular in northern China, especially Beijing, where the attractive pink stalks are served in high-end restaurants. Flavor is yummy and lightly sweet, texture is light and crunchy and eye appeal is unstoppable. While you might run into very neon pink and saturated images of this plant online when grown in the heat of South Florida it becomes a more muted baby pink that ombres even lighter as the stalk ages however its definitely pink, definitely cute and definitely fun to grow!
