By now we’re all pretty familiar with kale, and most of the Brassica plant family, which includes collard greens, cabbage and broccoli, so curly kale should need no introduction. If properly cared for kale plants should be able to grow year round, both in fall, winter and our hot summer months. Since kale is an annual, however, you may do well to get a new plant when changing seasons, as the plants productivity will naturally decrease with time. Beware of aphids, which can be easily cured with neem oil applied foliarly. Curly kale is the perfect brassica for making kale chips and massaged salads; all of its crevasses and creases hold spices and oil perfectly !
