Fioretto is a super cool new variety that many small farms and market gardens are growing as it is sought after in the trendy chef market. Basically, its a sprouting cauliflower... like broccoli raab but cauliflower! Its beautiful and delicious but takes a while to grow and uses up lots of precious garden space, so we recommending just planting one or two plants of this stunner in your garden unless you’ve got a ton of space to spare. Fioretto is one of the only brassica family plants that our sister farm, French Farms, grows for sale at the market because its so heat tolerant, so sweet, so tender, and so productive. its one of our top 10 favorite plants for sure!
As with normal cauliflower this species is heat averse so its best to grow in fall & winter here in south Florida. Once your main head of sprouting cauliflower looks like the picture above, harvest it but leave your plant as it will produce a few side-shoots for you later in. Fun fact about cauliflower plants: the whole thing is edible! so harvest the leaves too for dinner before pulling the plant at the end of the season.
