Green Zebras are the most popular green heirloom and for good reason. They are a beautiful chartreuse with deep lime-green stripes on the outside and have bright green sweet flesh that has a sharp bite to it. From our experience these vines grow very bushy and become loaded with fruit much earlier than most other varieties. While we tend to discourage South Florida growers from planting larger fruit, we have had good success with this variety and maybe because its more mid-size, it produces well here.
As you can see in the photo, the fruit gets yellow when ripe, with green stripes throughout. Indeterminate plants such as this one need lots of maintenance in order to stay healthy through the growing season. Regular trellising and pruning means your plant will focus on growing you food instead of green leaves, and that the plant stays healthy and disease free through the season.
