Magda is our favorite “Cousa” type with superb flavor and high yields. Identified as having the best flavor of any Mid-East style zucchini by the seed breeders over at Johnnys Select Seed in Maine, Magda’s sweet, nutty flavor is comparable to our other favorite squash, Zephyr. The blocky, pale-green, tapered fruits are usually picked small, 3-4” long, for stuffing, stir-fries, and pickling. High yielding over a long season. Chris French over at French Farms in Homestead introduced us to this fun and tasty Italian zucchini alternative. The fruit can be harvested at any size and flavor greatly outdoes the “normal” dark green zucchini types found at the grocery store.
