Ylang Ylang is a fast growing tree most famous for the incredible fragrance that comes from its blossoms. Its scent has hints of jasmine crossed with sweet custard apple, and fills the entire landscape. Many are drawn to Ylang Ylang trees because its oil is used in a variety of different perfumes, such as Coco Chanel’s N°5. The essential oil is used in aromatherapy and is believed to relieve high blood pressure and normalize sebum secretion, balancing skin issues, and is considered to be an aphrodisiac. The tree prefers full to partial sun and moist, acidic, well draining, soils. She can be a little particular, but well worth the effort. If you've ever walked down the street and found yourself engulfed in a cloud of intoxicating honeysuckle perfume you might've walked under a Ylang Ylang in bloom and not even noticed it!
