Introduction to Gardening in South Florida - Spring Workshop
$35.00

Our third workshop of the season will be an Introduction to Veggie Gardening in South Florida with an emphasis on the tasks and info crucial to success in the SPRING. Spring is the end of our growing season (its the opposite from the rest of the country) and its when you'll start to encounter some challenges like planting heat tolerant crops and dealing with pests and lack of fertility.

Saturday April 12th, 2pm - 4pm
Little River Coop Nursery. 22305 SW 157th Avenue
Redland, FL. 33170

This workshop is a 1.5 hour lecture where farmer Tiffany will focus on the following:

-how has the sun moved in the sky and how does that effect your garden
-how does spring weather effect your plants
-which new crops are best for planting now that its heating up, and why
-the basics of organic pest management practices
-what to do with your veggie garden at the end of your growing season
-introduction to composting (spring is the best time to start a new pile!)

After that we move on to a hands on demonstration where we use our exhibition garden to talk about saving seeds, and we check out the various composting methods that Little River and French Farms use on the property to add fertility to next seasons plantings.

Due to the intimate nature of the workshops we do not offer refunds for cancellations but we oftentimes have a waitlist so with enough warning we can try to replace you and then refund your payment.
