LAST CSA PICK UP OF THE SEASON
Trying not to freak out, but !!!!!!!!!!!! The day has come for our final CSA pick up of the season. A couple of days ago I ran into a CSA member and she told me she was secretly glad it was almost over because it's a lot of work and effort to make use of a CSA share every week. How many of you feel that way? We are clearly relieved because it's a lot of work and effort to grow food and be at the farmers market every Saturday. On the other hand, what the heck are we all going to eat the rest of the year? It's a double edged sword ain't it? That kind of brings home the much bigger picture issue of our species' relationship to food and how we've industrialized production to almost completely remove the "burden" of feeding ourselves. How strange that we see such a basic human need as a "burden". I don't mean to nag or preach, I'm just thinking out load about how interesting the whole situation is.
So, what's in the last share? Everyone's fields are pretty bare by now as most farms are preparing to close up for the coming summer months. This will be a small share compared to the average share and especially compared to shares in the peak of the season when we had so much veg to share.

A bit of inspiration about tarragon, a less common herb in most kitchens. If you like green goddess dressing you will get to try your hand at a home made version. Truthfully, home made dressings are SO much better than store bought dressings (really what isn't though...). There are a million recipes for green goddess dressing on the internet, but I particularly like this version on bonappetite.com.
