The earliest historical records of herbs are found from the Sumerian civilization, where hundreds of medicinal plants including opium & basil are listed on clay tablets. The Ebers Papyrus from ancient Egypt describes over 850 plant medicines. The Greek physician Dioscorides documented over 1000 recipes for medicines using over 600 medicinal plants in De Materia Medica, a text still used today by herbalists. Many plants that we cook with, like rosemary & sage, also have medicinal uses which is why you'll find them listed in this category of our store alongside more traditional medicinal herbs like echinacea and ashwagandha. While we feel comfortable sharing these specific plant types with customers so they can grow them themselves we do suggest you reach out to a trained herbalist if you are hoping to treat a specific medical issue using plants.

All live plant starts are potted in 4" round plastic pots unless otherwise noted in the description and are approximately 6 weeks old.
