Virtual Workshop: Introduction to Veggie Gardening in South Florida - Video 2: Winter
For the past 10 years we have been teaching in person workshops about veggie gardening in South Florida at our nursery, however as part of our Covid pivot we recorded our most popular 4 part Introduction to South Florida Gardening and made it a virtual offering. The content in these virtual workshops is almost identical to the in-person offerings, so if the timing isn't right or you don't want to make the trek to our nursery this is a great option for you to learn from us.

Video two is our "winter" section and it focuses on what to do to continue working in your garden after your main fall planting. We start with an hour long lecture-style discussion of the following topics:

-how has the sun moved in the sky and how does that effect your garden
-which new crops are best for planting now in our cooler weather
-how to succession plant for continual harvest through the season
-methods for organic continued fertility
-the basics of organic pest management practices

After that we move on to a hands on demonstration where we use the verdant fields of French Farms to show some hands on techniques like thinning root crops, harvest lettuce and herbs using the "cut and come again" method and farmer Chris French will walk us through his tomato patch so we can see his trellising and pruning methods in action.

Choose from our new sliding scale pricing model for payment and once you check out we will send you a private link so you can stream the video ( in HD or SD, and watch it as many times as you'd like) along with a PDF booklet to follow along with, which includes links to further resources, photos, charts and more. After you purchase this item in our web shop we will send you an email with the link and PDF booklet, but it may take us a few hours to do so. If you don't receive the email within 12 hours of purchase please check your spam folder, as many of them are getting eaten by spam filters!

Check out the info graphic provided for more information on how to use our sliding scale pricing model. The lowest price, our "institutional" price is for use by teachers at public schools who are incorporating gardening into their curriculum or anyone who is running or involved in a nonprofit organization focused on the intersection of social justice, the environment, food justice and/or sustainability.
