Week 18, CORN
Not to be too gloom and doom, but the season is winding down fast. This season some of the farmers I know, myself included, have felt that the weather did some unusual stuff, particularly in February, which caused a lot of crops to come to a rapid halt. February was warmer and more humid than usual (so it felt) and we all experienced intense pest pressure on crops that are typically easy peasy. That said, thanks to our collective efforts we've been able to pool together a pretty good selection of good quality veggies for our CSA all season.

This week we have beautiful collards and chard from Cool Runnings Organic Farm and that amazing lettuce salad mix Chris French has been busting out all season. French Farms is also harvesting some of his last spring onions. Turmeric and grapefruit are a fun addition to the share this week. For one thing they are both flavor bombs you can use to make yummy drinks and salad dressings, but they both also keep for a long time in the fridge so there's less pressure to use everything in the share; something we know a lot of people, including ourselves, struggle with from week to week.
Enjoy this week's veg, it's the third to last CSA pick up!!!
